By a cruel twist of fate, I am housebound today. Out of the window go my plans to spend the day secluded to a (quite scarily named) “silent booth” in the library battling through my dissertation. I shouldn’t really complain though - instead of being trapped in a room that smells of BO and pickled onion Monster Munch (same thing, really) I’m almost fully horizontal in bed, Macbook on lap, surrounded by books and the much more appealing odour of hot coffee.
My aims for today are to nail down around 500 words of dissertation writing, finish up some illustrations for D&AD, and then frustrate myself to the point of near-insanity with uninspiring After Effects tutorials. Happy Monday.
(In case you didn’t notice, this entire text post is procrastination at its finest)
Without giving too much away, something I’m working on…
I’m spending today planning the remainder of my dissertation (that’s the 6,000 words that I have left to write, FYI). I’ve just realised that as the deadline is in 8 weeks, and I need 2 weeks at the end to design and print the damn thing, I have to write 1,000 words a week (at least) from here on out. Not a thrilling prospect.
On the bright side I can use this fact to buy copious amounts of comfort food to demolish while I’m trapped in the library. Every cloud.
This is what I want to do and I’m going to work my tiny Iranian bum off until I’m actually doing it. And then continue working my bum off…obviously.
Thank God, because this travel writing is getting very monotonous. It’s fun learning about different places, but I’d quite like to get the content-writing side of my FMP over soon. There’s a reason I’m a designer and not a writer!
